The NZPFU National Committee was satisfied this afternoon that the necessary agreements had been reached to cancel the strike scheduled for Monday 5 December 2022. We appreciate the preparation Locals had made for the hour of action but are also pleased the strike will not be needed.
The NZPFU and FENZ are now working to finalise the necessary documentation with the intention of signing a proposed record of settlement and amended collective employment agreement over the next few days. It is necessary for those matters to be finalised prior to the ratification process.
The NZPFU informed Local representatives today that we would be sending out a ratification meeting schedule so that Locals can make the necessary arrangements but the ratification meeting schedule can only be confirmed once we have finalised all the necessary documentation for the proposed settlement. The schedule is being developed with the intention of the ratification voting process being concluded before Christmas.
We again ask members to be patient – we are hopefully only days from being able to provide the detail of the proposed settlement.
It is the solidarity and strength in unity that has got us to this point and we look forward to being able to provide the membership with a proposed settlement recommended by the National Committee.
